Bodywork

IND Wellness Bodywork sessions are a personalized blend of manual lymphatic drainage, coaching and pampering. You shouldn’t have to choose between indulging in the spa experience and receiving clinical care. No two sessions look alike; you are a new person each time you arrive on the table and your session will always reflect and support that.

Everything is connected! When we support your lymphatic system, we will also be supporting your brain health, gut health, hormonal health and so much more. In addition to lymphatic drainage, techniques like localized vibration therapy, massage therapy and craniosacral therapy will also be blended into your session as needed.

FAQ

  • Do your best to arrive adequately hydrated, and if possible, don’t eat a big meal right before your session.

  • Responses to lymphatic drainage can vary person-to-person and session-to-session. You can anticipate potential changes in how your breath or sweat smells; you may use the bathroom more frequently or “clear out” the pipes; you may even see some skin changes. The key is to stay hydrated, eat light and clean, and give your body a chance to rest. If you feel like you want movement, opt for something gentle like walking, stretching or yoga, and save high intensity for the next day or so.

  • As with anything, consistency is key! If you want to see results and sustain them, you’ll want to support your lymphatic system on a regular basis. Why? Because your body will continue to make fluids every day, so the support must be ongoing. That could mean coming in for sessions, doing DIY homework, or a combination of both.

If you have an acute injury or health challenge, like a recent concussion or surgery, you might want to come in for more frequent sessions to support that recovery in the initial days/weeks. If you are managing a chronic illness, you might try a combination of DIY homework + in-person sessions every few weeks/monthly.

The goal of IND Wellness is to equip you with the tools you need to support your health INDependently. If time or finances are a barrier to your wellness, please know that you have options here. We can work together to give you the bodywork you need and/or teach you the tools necessary to safely practice on yourself.

  • Absolutely not! Manual lymphatic drainage should NEVER cause pain.

If you hear the term “deep lymphatics” or that lymphatic drainage is “deep work,” that is simply referring to the anatomical location of certain lymphatic structures and powerful techniques that impact their flow. Deep is NOT referring to the amount of pressure used, and again, should never cause you pain.

    Remember: “light work, deep impact”

If you have questions about a previous experience with lymphatic drainage that was painful, please feel free to reach out for support.
